Wiring the Cable
|
If a loop is to be permanently installed, the connector shown in blue is not needed. But if the loop is to be portable, some means must be provided to break the loop apart so it can be wound up on a spool. Any type of connector is OK, but it needs to be heavy duty, easy to wire, and easy to connect and disconnect.

The connectors for wiring lights for a trailer fill these needs very well. A flat trailer connector has wires already molded into the connector. It is rather easy to cut these wires off about 6 inches from the connectors and splice them to the loop cable as shown above. Solder the splices and wrap them in electrical tape. Depending on the color coding of the wires in the cable and the color of wires from the connectors, you can keep track of your connections so the result is as shown above.
The bold lines from the amplifier can be any two conductor cable, such as speaker cable, and it is spliced into the cabling too. The entire bundle of wires and splices can be wrapped in electrical tape to add durability and neatness to the assembly.
